The UK Government released a statement in which it is explained that the implementation of the future Medical Device Regulations has been delayed by an additional 12 month extension period which will allow extra time for legislators to put together the substantial reform. Therefore, it is expected that the new regulations will be introduced in Spring 2023 and come into force by July 2024.
This means that manufacturers will be able to continue placing CE-marked devices on the Great Britain market after 1 July 2023. Once the new regulations enter into force in July 2024, transitional arrangements will begin to apply to CE and UKCA-marked products.
